Vitreous humor analytes in assessing the postmortem interval and the antemortem clinical status

Various body fluids have been used in the diagnosis of diseases. Rapid changes occur in the blood and cerebrospinal fluid after death. Vitreous humor, being well protected, shows a more gradual change. It has been found to be a useful adjunct in determining the time of death in an individual and in diagnosing certain antemortem clinical conditions (AU)

The normal ranges of some constituents in the serum

The normal ranges for seventeen constituents in serum were estimated. In most cases, use of the 2.5 - 97.5 percentiles would be adequate in expressing the reference ranges. The only exception was GGT where exclusion of the upper five per cent of values was more appropriate in setting the upper limit. In many cases, it is difficult to be very specific and at the same time very sensitive. The choice is whether to be very specific and lose some sensitivity or vice versa (AU)
